Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media analyst for more than twenty years. She is also a seasoned public speaking. She founded Feminist Frequency which hosts videos and commentary analyzing depictions of women's roles in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian is an award-winning feminist journalist from Canada and a blogger. Feminist Frequency examines the way women are represented in the popular media. In addition, she works to expose the issues surrounding the harassment and targeted assaults on women and other minorities in online spaces she is committed to breaking down stereotypes that are in the popular culture. Holding a master's degree in the field of political and social thinking from York University Sarkeesian is also well-known as a sought-after presenter and has presented speech at the TEDxWomen Festival as well as The United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. From an early age Sarkeesian was captivated by the issue of gender identity and feminist thought. While still at school in 2009, she created her Feminist Frequency website. Someone who hoped to create a web series that examined the gender-based representation in video games was targeted by the internet campaign. It was not enough to stop her. Instead, it strengthened her commitment to be a feminist as well as media critic. Numerous awards have been awarded to her as a way of acknowledging her contributions to the field she made. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award award-winning journalist. She also serves as the creator and director of Feminist Frequency a nonprofit educational organization that explores pop culture gender representations.
