She is the daughter of Harvey Welker (a Native American father) and Julie Welker (an African-American mom). Her mother works as a real-estate agent, while her father is a graduate in engineering. Walker was educated in the Germantown Friends School in Philadelphia's Germantown neighborhood, graduating in 1994. In 1998, she earned an undergraduate diploma at Harvard College. Welker is married to John Hughes a well-known marketing director at Merck in Philadelphia and the couple has two kids. The couple was spotted in 2014 having an affair. John her husband, is four years her junior. They decided to take their relationship to the next level because it was going so well. The couple married on March 4, 2017.
